Dental Bonding to Fix Loose Teeth?
Question:
I am 29 and have been diagnosed with advanced periodontal disease including extensive bone loss along the entirety of both jaws.
I have always been very diligent about dental hygiene. My dentists have always commented on the lack of plaque build-up at my regular check-ups. I have had 2 fillings in adult teeth; no other problems.
Why am I losing so much bone? I had braces at age 12-14, and wisdom teeth extraction at 18.
I read in another question that grafts would not be recommended for someone with horizontal bone loss. My periodontist has recommended bone grafts. Will this help? Or do I have lingering infection evidenced by the continued bone loss?
How long before losing my teeth?
Answer:
The best treatment I have seen to date for periodontal problems is Perio Protect, using a peroxide gel daily to break up the organized bacteria plaque that destroys bone.
Trays are made to hold the peroxide in the sulcus between the teeth and bone for 15 minutes twice a day.
Since your home care has been consistantly good, there appears to be an excellent chance the bacteria that caused your bone loss will also destroy the bone grafts.
Perio Protect offers a good change in your oral environment. The cost is only around $700. The procedure has shown consistant positive results for our patients.
