Question:
Mini implants versus Denture Glue: I am 24 years old and I wear dentures and sometimes the glue really irritates me.
I sometimes feel insincure with them maybe because I am so young. I lost my teeth due to Lupus. Will the implants make me have a more confident feeling about my dentures? ...Visitor from PA
Answer:
I am sorry to hear that at age 24 you lost your teeth due to Lupus.
An important point is that once you loose your teeth, your upper and lower jawbones will resorb and shrink down over the years as a result. The placement of several dental implants in the upper and lower dentures will hold your dentures in much better than denture adhesive and the implants will act like natural tooth roots and help stimulate the bone to prevent it from wearing away as you get older.
The upper and lower denture will be able to snap into the dental implants and the strong implants will
keep harmful denture base pressure off your jawbone.
Not only will you have super retentive dentures, but with the dental implants you will be
preserving your jawbone for the rest of your life.
As an option, if your jaws are healthy enough for dental implants, you may be able to have implant supported fixed bridges made that do not come out at all. You could be free from wearing dentures that have to come out.
