Question:
Mini implant Failure: What happens if a mini implant does not integrate with bone and has to come out?
Can it be re-inserted immediately or does the bone have to heal? Would there be any problems with a denture being worn? ...Visitor from UK
Answer:
When mini dental implants don't integrate with the bone, they need to be removed. If there is another area where they can be inserted, we use that.
If not, we wait about 6 months for the bone to regrow and then can place another implant. It is OK to wear a denture type replacement in the area during this time.
Bone grafting does not do well with the mini implants, which is why we wait for the bone to regenerate.
