Question:
Upper jaw: Can the top dentures be held by the mini implants or is it just the bottom dentures? ...Visitor from OK
Answer:
Depending on the quality of bone, we can definitely use mini-implant in the upper arch.
We just see them being used on the bottom arch more often because most people have trouble with the lower denture not the upper.
However, for those who do have a loose upper denture mini implants is a great alternative. For some patients it enables them to have a denture with the palate (plastic part that covers the roof of the mouth) removed.
This can eliminate the gagging problem some folks have. A palateless denture also feels better and improves the ability to taste food.
