Miscellaneous Topics Ask The Dentist Corinne Scalzitti

Question:
I had periodontal surgery over 6 months ago. I also had 3 teeth extracted.

My mouth has healed, however, I can feel with my lip at all times, the teeth in the upper right of my mouth. Also some on the bottom left. It is a very very annoying sensation to "feel" these teeth.

I have even tried to buy something to cover the teeth to keep the lip from touching. This is not going away. What is causing it? I sometimes just want to pull out these teeth. ... Visitor from TX

Answer:
I'm not sure that I'm understanding how the periodontal surgery relates to your feeling the teeth.

Could you be feeling the teeth because others around them are missing? I'm sorry but I don't think I can understand your problem without seeing you.

I would suggest that you return to the treating dentist and explain your situation before and after the surgery and let him help you. Maybe all you need is partial dentures to make the remaining teeth feel like they belong there.
