Question:
I have had pain on and off for about six months from my ear to my lymph nodes. My GP said it was an infection caused from teeth. I have been taking antibiotics on and off but now it's become so bad that I can't function.
I've had a loss of appetite, I'm lethargic and in constant pain dispite antibiotics. My dentist put three crowns on my bottom molars and said that the cavities had not gone into the nerves but were very close. After so much pain he went back into the crowns and did root canals on two of them. It still hasn't helped. I don't know what to do anymore. Should I try an ENT; and Endodontist? HELP!

Answer:
The pain that you are describing may be coming from a number of places. The muscle which moves your neck may be sore. There may be an infection in the lymph nodes, and there may be an infection in the eustuacion tube (a tube which connects the middle ear to the throat and allows for the equalization of the ear as when flying in a plane or scuba diving). I would recommend seeing both a dentist and an ENT doctor.
