FAQ:  Molars

Question:
Swelling behind wisdom tooth: My tiny muscle behind my wisdom tooth is pinching me and is swelled up a little bit. I was wondering what may be causing this? ...Visitor from VA

Answer:
I doubt it's a muscle. You most likely have some pericornitis of the tissue around your wisdom tooth. Consult with your dentist or oral surgeon. Sometimes it is necessary to extract it, other times you may be able to treat it with some gum surgery, or deep cleaning.
