Question:
Dental shot feels like electrical shock: A couple of days ago I went to the
dentist to have a cavity filled. While giving me the needle to numb my
mouth, the dentist hit a nerve that gave me what felt like an electrical
shock (the tooth he was fixing was on the lower left side of my mouth).
Yesterday I was fine, but when I woke up this morning at 7am, I noticed that
below my lip on the lower left side, in the part of the lip you can like
pull away from your mouth, the flabby part, (not as far back as where the
needle was given to me) is numb when I yawn or open my mouth.
Could this be caused for the needle hitting my nerve? Will this go away? It is really annoying and I am scared of what could be wrong. Please give me your opinion. I appreciate it. ...Visitor from NJ
Answer:
I am not sure if this is from the injection or not. Normally you would
expect the problem to develop sooner.
My suggestion is to see your dentist and together the two of you can figure
out the best course of action.
