Question:
My son is 14 years old and has had his braces on for 4 years. We are waiting for his adult cuspids to come in. The orthodontist suggested surgical exposure so that we don't have to wait any longer than necessary. What is your opinion of this and where can i find more info? ...Janet

Janet, surgical exposures is what I would recommend. The success rate is very high, but there is always a very small percentage of the canines not being able to be pulled down by the orthodontist. However, that percentage is quite small. In my opinion this method is very safe and gives your child a good chance of having his teeth come in at a faster rate. Hope this helps.
