Question:
I've needed braces for about 2 years now. I don't want to get the normal braces. I was wondering if they have the braces that you put behind your teeth. If so, how does it work? Could anyone get them or people that don't have it as bad? ...Michael in AZ
Answer:
Michael, the braces I believe you are discussing about are called "lingual braces". They are placed behind / or on the 'tongue' side of the teeth.
The orthodontist has to be specially trained to do them. Very few do them because it irritates the tongue a lot as well as it's easier to do the conventional braces. You can get tooth colored braces that is similar in color with your teeth.
