Question:
I went to an orthodontist today. I have diastema in my upper set of teeth and an overbite. He suggested to have one of my central incisors extracted to provide space for my protruding upper teeth to move.
Is this an uncommon practice? Will it make my lower teeth assymmetrical since one tooth is out? Will it affect my bite? ...Georgina in Baltimore, MD
Answer:
Georgina, do not have one of your upper permanent central incisors extracted! Please come to see me or another orthodontist in your area for a second opinion.
