Question:
I'm 14 and need braces, but I play an instrument. I was wondering if lingual braces are any better or worse than regular braces for people who play instruments. I was also wondering if there were any orthodontists in South Carolina who specialized in lingual braces. Visitor from SC
Answer:
It is most likely lingual braces would be worst, because it would cut up your tongue a lot, especially since you would need to position your tongue behind your teeth, which is where the lingual braces would be attached to.
It's best to contact the American Association of Orthodontists and inquire if there are any orthodontists practicing lingual technique. It's a lot easier and more predictable to undergo conventional braces rather than lingual braces.
