Orthognathic Surgery required for misaligned jaw? What are the health risks or ramifications of NOT getting orthognathic surgery when you are diagnosed with a misaligned jaw? ....Visitor from PA

Answer:
Depending on the symptoms that are currently being experienced, some concerns of misalignment, abnormal teeth wear, and tmj dysfunction can occur over time if the jaw postion is not corrected.

Many times a combination of surgery and braces is required to properly align the jaw.
