Question:
Loose Overdenture: I recently had a lower overdenture put in.
I had eight teeth extracted. I have no bone left.
My teeth move in the back while the two implants hold down the front. What can I do? ... Visitor from NY
Answer:
In some cases, the placement of mini-dental implants can resolve the issue you are having with your lower immediate denture.
Assuming the denture is fitting well and does not need a reline, adding a few mini dental implants should secure the posterior segments of your denture. Mini dental implants can be placed in areas where traditional implants don't have enough bone.
Another option would be to have a third dental implant placed in the middle between the two existing implants. I always recommend a minimum of three implants when doing lower overdentures which helps prevent tipping or posterior lifting.
