Question:
Two days ago I woke up with a strange feeling on the left side of my face. I don't want to call pain, just a sensation or tightness or discomfort. I can't quite tell where the feeling is coming from since it keeps moving.
Sometimes it seems to come the upper back part of my jaw and mouth, sometimes from the gum near the last tooth in the back of my mouth. Sometimes it seems to not even come from my mouth but rather from the gland below my my chin where my face and neck meet.
The feeling is very vague so I have been waiting for it to get worse before I see someone. At this point I don't know if I should see a dentist or a doctor. It seems like it might be even be flu related aches or swollen lymph nodes. Please advise. Visitor from CA
Answer:
I would go ahead and have this looked at. It sounds like it could be a wisdom tooth (assuming you still have them) coming in. It could also be a
gum problem or even a salivary gland blockage. I do recommend that you go
in before things get bad, and have an exam.
