Question:
I am a 68 year old male. For the past three or four weeks I have experienced pain on the lower left side of my mouth. At first it seemed that I was experiencing a sensitive sensation when I drank cold drinks.
For the past few days I am experiencing much more pain, however it is when I have hot drinks or eat hot food. Orginally it seemed to be the second molar from the back---now it is my entire left lower side of teeth and even seems to becoming sensitive on the upper left side.
My dentist X-rayed the lower part last week, however it did not reveal any obvious problems. ...Visitor from UT
Answer:
Tooth pain is sometimes hard to diagnose when there is no obvious cause. You may have a cracked tooth that is just starting to invade the nerve. You also could be grinding or clenching on those teeth during the night resulting in pain.
Have your dentist check it out. A night guard during sleep is always a good idea. It keeps your teeth from touching each other and doing damage in the night.
