Question:
Lower Gum Pain: I have had pain in my lower gums for a year now. I had an x-ray done on my jaws and it shows nothing wrong.
I don't have any cavity problems and my wisdom teeth have been pulled. I was taking meds for gum fungus.. but it didn't help.
I grind my teeth and wore a mouth guard... but with no relief. A lot of times I found myself tensed up in the mouth, jaw and neck area.
Can you help me to figure out how to cure the pain in my gum area? ...Visitor from IN
Answer:
First see a periodontist. They are gum specialists and should be able to help you diagnose the problem.
Second see an oral surgeon to help evaluate if your pain is of neurological origin. If these two specialists can't find the problem, it probably isn't your teeth.
They could refer you for a neurological consult, physical therapy, tmj specialists etc. Good luck
