Question:
Partials stop tooth movement? I have had my 3 back teeth removed on my lower jaw.
I have a consult with my dentist in 8 weeks. Is it necessary to have a temporary partial denture put in to prevent the teeth from moving in my mouth? ..Visitor from MA
Answer:
No, in a few weeks time there won't be significant movement of your remaining teeth.
However, lack of replacing the teeth will result in supereruption of the opposing teeth over a period of years. So it is important to replace the teeth in a timely fashion to prevent movement of the opposite teeth and to prevent overuse of the teeth on the opposite side of your mouth.
