Question:
What is the best age to take a child to the dentist? ...Jennifer

Answer:
Jennifer, thank you for the question. The best time is when your children are 3 years old. At that visit, they will do the necessary x-rays, clean/prophy their teeth, apply a fluoride treatment and do a clinical examination.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry does recommend taking your children when they are 1 and then when they are 2.

Personally, I tell my parents that as long as everything looks good and your children are not having any problems, to wait until they are 3. The first two visits are more parent education and I feel that it can usually wait until they are 3.
