Question:
I am concerned about my two year old's teeth and I am also apprehensive about pediatric dentists because I have had bad experiences with my other children.
My daughter has brown spots in four of her top teeth and in two of them she has small holes. Is there a possibility of her getting flouride treatments?
Answer:
First, I'm sorry that you've had bad experiences with pediatric dentists. I wish my office was in Fresno so hopefully I could change your mind about us.
Does your daughter sleep with a bottle? Typically when we see decay or brown spots on the top 4 front teeth it is caused by Baby Bottle tooth decay which is when children sleep with bottles that contain juice, soda, milk... anything but water.
The only way to control the cavities or brown holes in the teeth is to have the decay/cavity removed and the tooth filled. Using topical fluoride will not control the decay, so the only way to treat the teeth is to have them restored.
