FAQ:  Scaling

Question:
Under what circumstances should a patient get the deep scaling procedure? Is it purely a preventative measure? Would it be good for a 27-year old showing some signs of gum disease? ...Chris in DC     (answer)

Answer:
Chris, it all depends on the diagnosis and evaluation by your dentist. It is not preventative, it is a treatment to save your gums, bone, and teeth.

It progresses slowly, but if your dentist diagnosed it then he/she is probably doing a good, quality job of taking care of you and I would follow recommendations.
