FAQ:  Scaling

Deep Scaling Cleaning Ask The Dentist Ronald Briglia Question:
Sedation for Deep Cleaning - Scaling: Is there anyway to get put to sleep while getting deep cleaning done?

Do you recommend it? I'm so afraid of the dentist that I get sick to my stomach.

I'm 30 years old and was told by my dentist that I need deep cleaning. ... Visitor from IL

Answer:
Yes, you can be sedated for deep cleaning periodontal gum treatment.

Since you are so phobic about having your dental care done, I would recommend having a complete dental examination. Then, if any dental restorative treatment needs to be completed it can be done at the same time as your periodontal scaling and root planing.
