Question:
Anesthesia and Asthma: I hate going to the dentist and having any work performed.
The last few times I went, I had IV sedation. Unfortunately, the dentist kept me under for four hours and I had a series of asthma attacks over the following week.
Would the oral pill be better for me? I am at the point where I'm considering hypnosis but can't find a dentist that practices it. ...Visitor from NY
Answer:
Sedation Dentistry does have it's place in patient care, however it does carry large risks with it.
What may be better for you is to obtain care from a Dentist who would take the time to help you identify the reason (fear anxiety, lack of numbness) for the need of the sedation and help you to control it with more natural means.
