Question:
I've been reading on Conscious Sedation and what it is used for. To be
honest, I have no known phobias in dentistry. My problem is that I have a gag reflex that's outta this world. Is conscious sedation effective in eliminating this problem or at least reducing it? ...John in TX
Answer:
John, probably not. What we use for our patients is a lot of salt and sometimes compazine 10 mg. Stop by your local Coney Island Restaurant and pick up some small salt packets. Suck on the salt during your appointments and you should be O.K., otherwise have your dentist prescribe Compazine.
