Lost Retainer Treatment Option
Video: Alternative (adult) treatment for retainer-related shifting teeth
Dynamics of Shift - Movement
Question:
Braces or new retainer to fix Shifting Teeth? I have noticed that my teeth have been shifting.
My teeth aches at times I guess because of this. My retainers do not fit anymore and I was wondering if I'd need braces again? Or can i just get a retainer readjusted to fit my teeth the way it is now?
My teeth have only moved slightly and it's barely noticeable. I'm also due for cleaning at my local dentist. Will this be trouble for them if my teeth are shifting? ... Visitor from Guam
Answer:
I would suggest that you go to your dentist for the cleaning that is due.
The shifting of the teeth should not cause problems with the cleaning. At the visit, your dentist can determine if you need new retainers or braces again (or, perhaps, Invisalign invisible braces).
Or, the aching teeth could be caused by another problem such as grinding at night. Your dentist should be able to help you with this.
Please let the person scheduling the appointment know that you have additional questions besides having your teeth cleaned when you schedule.
