Question:
Root canal and sinus pain and pressure: I have an upper tooth (in front of wisdom) with a crown that has had a root canal.

My problem is after I had the root canal finished, I have had terrible sinus pain and pressure. This has been going on and off for over a year.

It feels like my tooth roots are in my sinuses. Should I just have this tooth removed? ....Visitor from NJ

Answer:
This tooth shouldn't just be extracted unless you've been unable to get a definitive diagnosis and are fed up. It's sometimes very difficult to differentiate between sinus problems and tooth problems.

I would start out at a competent endodontist and then an Otolarngologist (ENT). We've all heard stories of patients experiencing tooth/sinus pain and sequentially extracting upper back teeth after root canal therapy without any relief of the pain.

Perhaps these are sinus or even neuralgia issues.
