Question:
A week ago I woke with pain in my upper left gums..the next day it increased and by the 3rd day, I went to a doctor who diagnosed it as a sinus infection.

After 5 days on Cipro, I feel the sinus infection is pretty much gone, but there is a lump on the upper part of gums, near the jaw line that is painful and swollen.

Do I see a doctor, do I go to a dentist? Where to turn as this pain keeps me up at night and is just awful....Visitor from NJ

Answer:
Could be the sinus was infected by an upper tooth; could be the tooth became infected by the sinus. Regardless, at this point if there's a swelling in the mouth you must see a dentist.

Even if the antibiotic calms the area down for the time being the source or cause of the infection still remains and it must be addressed.
