FAQ: Studs - Piercing

I recently got my labret pierced and was concerned about the metal eroding my gums. I got a fishtail design that is supposed to prevent this, but I am still concerned.

I was wondering if dental backing for my post would help. I heard that it did. Where could I obtain some dental backing? Also, the piercing is healing beautifully. ...Danielle in WI

Answer:
Danille, I don't understand your question. What is a labret, and what is dental backing, and what is a fishtail????????. If you want to pierce your body with foreign objects, I guess it's a free country, but I don't know any dentist who can give you any advice on this topic that is taboo in our profession.

I think you should visit an oral surgeon and see some patients who come in with infected tissues and cancer caused by this crazy fad. You will quickly change your mind.
