Question:
My husband and I are both in our late 40's and would like to have our teeth whitened. I see ads saying you can do them at home with a kit and not spend what it would cost at a dental office. Is it as safe and does it work as well? Or is it better to go to my dentist? ...Diana in MI
Answer:
Diana, the only home procedure I would recommend is to use baking soda or peroxide. Rembrandt toothpaste has some good qualities, but if you want professional results you should go to a cosmetic dentist in your area.
The cheap kits have citric acid which can destroy your teeth. You cannot make the molds for your mouth in order to properly fit the gel to your teeth and have it work properly. Only your dentist can do that!
The only kit worth money is the Crest Whitestrips. Start with that if you want to save money, but for optimal, beautiful results you have to consider spending a few hundred
bucks.
