Question:
For the past few years now I have been getting little white bumps on the sides of my tongue that come and go but last for what seems like forever. When they come and go they never show up in the same spot, they feel like my taste buds have been numbed and burn a little. Most uncomfortable when trying to eat, talk and swollow.
I do have problems with breathing at night do to allergies, that's when these bumps show up when I have had to sleep breathing through my mouth all night. I don't get them anywhere else but on the sides of my tongue I don't know what to do about them and I'm worried about it.
The last time I had them was a while ago but that was only like for a few days and I believe it was only 1 or 2 at the most. So I didn't really think anything of it then. What should I do or can I do? ... Visitor from MI
Answer:
There is nothing I can tell you about your problem without examination,
because bumps on the tongue can be a hundred different things. First, you
need to have your dentist or oral surgeon evaluate these bumps when they
happen. Second, you need a full physical, including blood work-up.
They may be allergy related, or vitamin deficient. If you are breathing through your mouth at night you may have a sleep apnea problem, which needs
diagnosis. Sleep problems cause all sorts of medical ailments.
