| Denture Fasteners Mounted Into Overdenture |
Overdentures are a popular tooth replacement solution that can limit the need to remove all existing tooth structures. For some patients however, the lack of an anchoring device in the posterior ends of the denture prosthesis can cause problems of movement, pain, discomfort, difficulty in eating and speaking. Bone loss issues can prevent, for some patients, the ability to use traditional implants.
Mini implants have proven to be a successful treatment option that creates a more stable fit for a lower overdenture. Placing 3 mini implants in the anterior areas of the lower jaw can provide good stability. Anchoring devices are mounted into the denture product that enables patients to "snap in" their overdenture with the confidence of it having a sound, comfortable fit.
The use of mini implants provides healthy bone stimulation that aids in controlling future loss of bone and can eliminate possible loss of soft tissue due to excess movement of the prosthesis (friction).
