Question:
Underbite and jaw pain: I am 56 years old. I have an underbite that has never given me any problems until very recently.
My jaws are starting to feel pain near my ears. What can happen, what is causing this, and what can be done to help it ? ...Visitor from IL
Answer:
I can't speak to your situation without an exam and x-rays.
Usually people with underbites have less problems than a person with an overbite.
This pain could be caused by tooth wear, leading to poor bite, leading to tmj deterioration. It could be from scar tissue from an accident or trauma in your past, or simply an arthritic change.
You need to be seen by someone that can diagnose and treat you conservatively to help you with
your issues. Best of luck.
