Question:
Acromegaly: I have an underbite that developed from Acromegaly, which I have recently been diagnosed with.
I do not want to have surgery to correct the underbite because I have residual damage from Bells Palsy. My question: how can I correct the underbite without surgery?
Also, since the Acromegaly releases the Growth Hormone, is it possible to treat my orthodontic problem of that of a teenager who is still growing? I am 39 year old female. ...Visitor from NJ
Answer:
I don't think your orthodontic problems are treatable without surgery.
I assume that you have had an orthodontist and an oral surgeon who are reviewing the specifics of your condition. I don't have enough information or knowledge to advise you except to get opinions from specialists who do.
I would imagine that you will need a team of an orthodontist, oral surgeon, general dentist, and whatever medical specialists who are involved in your diagnosis and treatment.
