Question:
I am a 21 year old female. My bottom two wisdom teeth are impacted and need an oral surgeon for removal. The top two teeth are being pulled in the middle of January. My question is this: I have been on antibiotics off and on for about a year now.
At the present time I am taking amoxil. I am having an unbelievable amount of pain to the point that all I want to do is sit and cry. I have had problems with my wisdom teeth for over a year but the pain has never been this severe. Also the top two teeth have severe decay and have chipped within the last month.
Is there something else I could be doing until I have them extracted? Any pain medications I could be taking? ... Visitor from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan Canada
Answer:
You certainly can take 4 Advils every 6 hrs, or have your doctor prescribe a
narcotic to make you comfortable.
Taking antibiotics on and off is a ludicrous way of treating yourself...you're only asking for trouble down the road when you get a serious infection that will become untreatable.
