Question:
I am 39 years old and still have my wisdom teeth (impacted). I have not
experienced any problems with them before, but suspect they may be the root (no pun intended) of my current problems. I have been experiencing headaches recently and they have become more and more frequent.
A few weeks ago, my face, just below my eye, became numb. The numbness eventually worked it's way across to the other side of my face, but never went above my eyes to my forehead area. The numbness felt like novacaine when it wears off. I have since had some tingling in my check and mouth areas as well as the headaches. I was naturally concerned about this occurance and visited my Doctor, but we have yet to determine the reason for this occurance.
Could this be caused by my impacted wisdom teeth? It has been quite sometime since I have seen x-rays of them, but I believe they are
horizontally impacted, but I am not positive about that. Any information or advice you can offer is greatly appreciated. ...Visitor from CA
Answer:
I would have a pano x-ray taken to take a look and rule out your wisdom teeth. I have only seen one case in my career where a tooth infection caused numbness. If you are not swollen, it is probably some other cause. Still, have the screaning film done.
