Question:
I was having severe pain in the left side of my face with swelling. My jaws also were nearly closed forcing me to take liquid food. I went to an ENT and he gave me strong antibiotics and advised me hot
fomentation. This aggraveted the pain and swelling.
Now I have been to a dentist and he has advised me hot wet compress and antibiotics and pain killers. There was improvement for three days but now the pain and swelling have again started and I cannot open my jaws beyond 1 inch. My jaw X-ray shows 3 impacted wisdom teeth but the region of main problem top left is the area where the wisdom tooth is missing.
The doctor says that is due to dry fomentation a growth has occured and the jaw is unable to align, though he has not ruled out any other reason for this growth. Now it is more than 3 weeks and I am desperate. Please help me. Do I need to go in for further procedures, like biopsy of the growth?

Answer:
You need CATscans and MRI's of the head and neck. You could have different problems. Do not rule out the fact that it may be something as simple as muscle spasms, but you need your oral surgeon and ENT doctors to make a diagnosis. You may need hospital care for this problem!
