Question:
Difficult Wisdom Tooth Removal: I had my wisdom tooth pulled and I'm afraid it was done rather harshly.
My jaw is still sore and I cannot open it. I have cuts on my lips, on the same side the tooth was pulled. My dentist kept yelling at me to open my mouth wider but I had it as wide it can go which then his helper just pried it open which then has given me such a horrible headache.
It took about 24 hours for it to stop bleeding because there was never any stitches placed in. I also heard a lot of cracks like 7 or 8 loud cracks and it took about 1 hour to remove it with no breaks for me to relax myself and my jaw.
He wants to remove around 3 more teeth but I don't want to go back but I want to know if this is how its done. ...Visitor from WI
Answer:
Removal of teeth can be difficult if someone has difficulty opening their mouth.
I would pursue an I.V. sedation for the rest of your extractions and then things will be less traumatic.
Complications from extractions exist such as bruising, soreness and abrasions at the surgical site. The sounds you heard may have been pieces of teeth being broken into pieces for removal.
These are questions to direct to your dentist. If issues occur postoperatively with regard to your jaw, your dentist can observe the situation and make proper follow up recommendations.
