Mini Implant Surgery Description
Question:
Implants or Dentures with a Post? When getting full implants. After the teeth are removed what do
you have until your mouth has healed to eat with and cosmetic reasons?
I haven't read that you have some sort of teeth or denture until you are done healing. You don't have to go 6-9 months without teeth do you?
Also if implants are not affordable, what do you think of the full mouth dentures that have the anchors. Dentures that snap in ??? ... Visitor from IN
Answer:
First of all, you usually can have teeth right away to wear while you are healing. These can be in the form of
an immediate partial (given to you the day the teeth are removed).
Sometimes a temporary bridge can be used or a metal ceramic maryland bridge with metal wings can be fabricated to replace teeth until the implants are ready to restore if only one tooth is to be replaced.
At times, mini-implants can be used to hold on to a temporary bridge while the actual implants heal. If you have no teeth and a lower implant denture is to be fabricated, either a complete denture with soft liner will be used or the mini-implants can be placed on an interim basis to secure the denture until implant healing has occured.
If traditional implants are too costly, mini-implants have been approved for long term use to stabilize
dentures. These can be an excellent cost effective way to replace teeth and give you cosmetics and stability while chewing.
