I am 16 years old and have not lost all of my baby teeth yet. Also, two of my baby teeth (towards the front of my mouth) have no adult replacement teeth. One of these has already fallen out so I have had a
gap for quite awhile now. I've had braces on for the past 3 years. I feel ugly and hopeless with my teeth looking so bad. Is there a chance I could get some kind of cosmetic dental surgery? I would rather have fake teeth put in then wait and live with gaps in my smile. Can you help me? ...Visitor from NY (answer)

I am 25 years old and never had the satisfaction of having beautiful teeth. Due to some genetic mishap I am missing several teeth in my mouth. The ideal mouth should have 32 teeth, I have 22, leaving me without
10 teeth. 4 were pulled when I was 16. 6 never formed. Due to this I am left with several spaces between me teeth. The bottom teeth are ok and not spaces really, but the top are spaced alot. I was wondering if
braces are right for me. Can I have bridges? I cant afford implants, can I get braces before this to straighten and pull my teeth together? ...Visitor from FL (answer)

What happens to permanent teeth when they don't emerge. Our son is 23. The xray a number of years ago showed all of his adult teeth waiting to emerge. They never did. His permanent teeth are his original teeth. Thanks ...Visitor from Ontario Canada (answer)
- I'm a 45 year old woman. The permanent teeth for my two top lateral incisors were congenitally missing. The permanent top cuspids grew into the empty space for my lateral incisors instead of pushing my baby cuspids out. I've had two orthodontic consultations at age 16 and 35. Both recommended to pull the baby cuspids, use braces to move the permanent cuspids back, and insert bridges for the lateral incisors. My philosophy is to not pull healthy teeth and replace them with false ones. (My baby
cuspids are healthy and still seem as soundly planted as my other teeth). I'm not looking for a hollywood smile. I would be happy to settle for something just a little less weird. ...Visitor from NJ (answer)

We would like to receive care in Minnesota but would consider traveling out of state to ensure she receives the best care. ...Visitor from MN (answer)
- Missing teeth - Ectodermal Dysplasia: My 10 year old daughter is missing most of her permanent teeth. She has 6 upper teeth in the front but no upper molars. One orthodontist wants to put her in a palate expander but our dentist says this is not a good idea since it could compromise the deciduous molars she currently has. He also says expanders are old technology and are not being used as much and that there can be problems with the bone developing after expansion and problems with the nerve in the upper palate. Can you address the concerns about complications and indicate whether or not you think it is okay to go with an expander in this type of situation? ...Visitor from CT (answer)
- Treatment Recommendations for Missing teeth? I am 17 and I am missing the two teeth on either side of my two front teeth. They just never grew in. I was wondering if it would be possible for cosmetic procedures like bridging or bonding to solve this problem instead of the long term solutions like braces or orthodontics. ...Visitor from Prince Edward Island, Canada (answer)
- Congenital Missing Teeth: My ten year old son is missing 10 permanent teeth. We have been told that there is nothing we can do until he reaches 18. Most of his missing teeth are in the front of his mouth. This is affecting how he chews, talks, and his self esteem. Are there any options available for this young of a patient, before he is old enough for implants? ...Visitor from UT (answer)
- Missing Teeth: I am a 63 year old who never got 2 of my second teeth, the upper 2 behind the canines. Two dentists recommended removal of the baby teeth when I was in my 20's and I had this done. I was in the process of getting a Marilyn Bridge and even had the adjoining teeth filed a bit when my husband made me move to another state. Now that I'm older it seems that those 2 gaps are vey noticable when I smile. My teeth and gums are healthy and remain in place with no noticable shifting. Is there anything that can be done short of implants to fill the gaps even if it is some sort of removable bridge I can wear when I want to look my best? ...Visitor from Rhode Island (answer)
