I had a tooth pulled it was to decayed to save and I had an infecion. Two weeks later the knot has returned and the roof of my mouth is extremely swollen, so much so that can not close my mouth. I have taken antibotics three different kinds. Nothing is working so should I go ahead and see a specialist, and what could be causing this and it is not from eating something too hot. Is it possible to have gingivitis/ periodontitis gum disease without the red gums? (my are more whitish) I have swelling in the gums around the lower teeth on the right side. (the far 3 are now missing due to root canals.) Dentists say there is nothing wrong with the gums. The swelling has spread to the next 3 teeth these past 2 months. What kind of MD specialist should I try to go to since dentists are just letting it go? Apparently I am allergic to fluoride and listerine which has made the situation worse this summer. I do not know whether to try an allergist or disease specialist. Dentists refuse to take a plaque of my mouth to see if there is a bacterial infection. I have argued with them for 6 years and I am losing too many teeth to just let it go like they want. Not to mention it is very painful. Visitor from OH (answer)
Last night I was running my hand over the lower right side of my face, there I found a tenderness right along the outer side of my face right in the jawbone line. I pressed in on it there is quite a lump there, painful to the touch. I had never noticed this before. Could this be a starting of an abcess? My gums are not sore on the inside.
