FAQ:  Flippers

Flipper Alternative

Flippers Ask The Dentist John Purpura Question:
Are there full upper flippers and how soon can they be used after all upper teeth have been extracted? ... Visitor from NY

Answer:
An all upper teeth flipper is called a full denture. Full dentures can be made just prior to extracting the teeth and placed the same day as the extraction and this is called an immediate denture.

This type of denture will oftentimes need to be refitted after a few months and possibly remade after some time due to the underlining bone changing shape from the lack of teeth.
