Question:
I am 30 years old and have an overbite and some gaps between upper teeth. I have consulted with two orthodontists. One recommends braces, a "bite plate" and removable retainer once braces are off.
The other recommends braces, a "bite turbo", permanently bonded retainer and a removable retainer once braces are removed. Is there an advantage of one method over the other? ...Visitor from CA
Answer:
Both the bite plate, a removable appliance, and the bite turbo, a fixed/bonded appliance, can help decrease your overbite. I would suggest to have bite turbos, because you don't have to worry about removing and placing the appliance back in.
I would also suggest a permanent bonded retainer in combination with a removable retainer, as it's always a good insurance for adults for teeth not to move.
