Question:
Speeding Up Treatment: I am 26 and have been wearing braces for 20 months to fix an
overbite problem.
I'm leaving (would really like to) for the Peace Corps in 10 months and my orthodontist says I'll need to more time to fix my teeth.
I really want to know if there's anything else that will speed up the process, since the orthodontist is not willing to see me more than once a month. Would it help if I get my teeth tightened every 2 weeks instead of 4?
They've tried different wires to bring my lowers out and push my uppers up. Should I consider switching to another orthodontist who's willing to see me more often if it can be done in a shorter time? ...Visitor from CA
Answer:
Don't switch orthodontists. 4 week appointment intervals are good for your teeth. More frequent intervals can be deleterious to your health. Stick it out if you can.
