Excessive Soft Drinks

Soda pop damage to teeth Ask the Dentist Mitchell Pohl Situation:

This patient is 29 years old and had a history of sitting at his computer and drinking excessive quantities of a certain proprietary soft drink popularized in TV ads.

The patient is currently undergoing a full mouth reconstruction.

Soda pop damage to teeth Ask the Dentist Mitchell PohlThis picture shows the patient with a temporary removable prosthesis immediately after surgery.

A temporary prosthesis was fabricated from models of the patients teeth prior to extraction. This type of prosthesis is called an immediate insertion denture. This is done so that the patient does not have to walk around without any teeth.

After a period of about four months we uncovered the implants and placed the crowns. Meanwhile, we still have lots to do with the rest of his mouth.

There are 3 additional photos revealing the dental work performed before the temporary prosthesis was put in. For those viewers who are not repulsed by strong graphic dental pictures, click here to see a sequence of 5 pictures revealing the steps involved in during the initial stages of this dental reconstruction.
