FAQ:  Teeth Grinding

Mouthguard Videos

Question:
I have worn a nightguard on my bottom teeth for 2 years now. Recently I had a filling redone on a top molar, which still hurts at times, even many weeks after the procedure was done. Also I have at least one tooth on the other side (top) that's giving me a similar problem.

The first tooth most likely needs a Root canal. One night recently I fell asleep without the nightguard in and slept for nearly the entire night. I woke up without any discomfort. I am wondering if the nightguard, along with the "new" filling, could be causing a bad bite? If so should I consider not wearing the nightguard? Visitor from IL

Answer:
Bites are a difficult quandry to make right. I would try an anterior bite splint if you are having headaches. Or take out the guard and try it without it. Please be under a dentist's supervision on what you do.
